In 3 weeks of pregnancy is your early-stage baby (doctors refer to it as an embryo) exists as a tiny collection of few hundreds of cells that are dividing rapidly and will continue to grow over the coming weeks and months. 

The cells of outer develop into the placenta and it’s supplies nutrition to your baby and provides other functions, and the inner cells help to develop into the fetus. And as you expect the embryo is tiny at this stage not big.

Fertilization is the first step in your child’s development. This week the fertilized egg grows from a one-cell zygote into a ball of cells. It calls a blast cyst.

From zygote to blast cyst, your tiny baby measures 0.1 mm–0.2 mm (100–200 microns), or about the size of the head of a pin.


Growing and Dividing

After fertilization, the egg name as a zygote. The zygote begins to divide from one cell to two, then to two to four, and then to four to eight. As it happens, it travels through the fallopian tube to the uterus. This takes three or five days. 

Once inside the uterus, the cell ball becomes a blast cyst about five days after conception. 

What about twins?

 By 3 weeks the fetus has a firm hand grasp. Identical twins come from the same egg and sperm from the same genetic material. The fertilized egg can divide into two identical cell groups at different stages, such as the two-cell stage or the blast cyst stage. But, it usually happens in the first week after conception siblings have another possibility this week. Siblings do not come from the same egg and sperm. Two eggs and two sperm needed to have siblings. So, if you release two eggs in the ovary and fertilize each egg with different sperm, you will have two separate zygotes or siblings.

Common Pregnancy Symptoms This Week

Although a lot is going on in your body right now, it is not something you can feel. During the 3rd week, you cannot say that you are still pregnant. You do not have any physical symptoms. 


 However, you may experience some emotional symptoms. When you think about the beginning of this new journey, it excites you. Or, you may feel nervous and anxious while waiting for a pregnancy test. Of course, you can go back and forth between emotions, or experience them all at once. All of that is very normal. Pregnancy can be an emotional roller coaster.


When your baby reaches your uterus, it finds a place to attach or attach to the uterine wall. When it explodes, it sometimes causes minor bleeding or staining. If you do not see any spots at the time of transplant, it means that you are not pregnant. Not every woman has this symptom.

Self-Care Tips

Weeks 3 and 4 of pregnancy are a bit of a wait-and-see game. Take care of yourself by trying to eat well, engaging in certain activities, and staying positive. 

Give your baby the best start in life by taking the following steps: 

  • Take a 400 microgram (400 mcg) folic acid supplement daily until the 12th week. Then the dose is increased. 
  • Eat a healthy diet. Make sure this includes a variety of fruits and vegetables, and try to minimize sugary and fatty foods. If you smoke, stop! This is one of the best things you can do for your baby’s health (and your own). 
  • Work on Your Diet Start or continue to add healthy foods to your daily diet to get all the nutrients your body needs to nourish a growing baby – especially iron and foliate 6 Continue to take all those vitamins you need from your diet
  • Getting nutrition is not always easy, so start or continue taking prenatal vitamins. Vitamins are not a substitute for a healthy diet, but they do help fill in the gaps. Does a little exercise 
  • Staying active can help you maintain a healthy weight, give you energy, boost your mood, and reduce stress. The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) recommends 150 minutes of physical activity per week. But don’t overdo it. If you have any health issues, be sure to talk to your doctor before starting an exercise program. 
  • Week 3 Ultrasound Pregnancy: 

Do You Need It? It takes a little over 3 weeks of pregnancy for an ultrasound scan. In most countries, the first scan of a pregnant woman takes place between 8 and 14 weeks.

You will interest in starting to feel something different about your appearance, but at 3 weeks of pregnancy, belly is not a thing. Even if you feel a little swollen, most pregnant women do not start to show up until the 12th week, there are many ways you can go before you get pregnant. 

Before you start eating for two, doctors recommend that most women gain 1 to 5 pounds during the first trimester in the first 13 weeks. So you do not have a license to start getting pregnant at three weeks pregnant. When you are physically ready for pregnancy, you can also be mentally prepared. Positive assurances are the thoughts and phrases you repeat to yourself. They help you overcome any fears or anxieties you may have while waiting for a pregnancy test. Try saying something like “My body is ready. I can feed a baby.” Thinking positively certainly does not harm.
